🚩 Show me a Red Flag proposal that enables someone to appear before a judge, with counsel, ~before~ her 2nd Amendment rights are stripped away.

Show me one that has protections in place to prevent it from being used for harassment, or triggered by a false accusation. 1/

🚩 Show me a Red Flag proposal that can't be triggered by someone’s lawful exercise of their 1st Amendment rights.

Show me a one that won’t cost law abiding citizens thousands in legal fees to challenge if they believe they have been wrongfully targeted. 2/

🚩 Show me a Red Flag process that begins with a medical professional certifying that the individual in question poses a threat to themselves or others.

Then explain to me why a gun-grab is the initial response to that, instead of involuntary commitment. 3/

I'm will not support support red flag efforts on any level without these types of protections. Absent those, it’s a hard no for me. 4/4

Here’s an idea: how about a primetime special on why gas is at $5/gallon?

1/x

Or why inflation is through the roof? 🚨 Or why we now have RECORD levels of illegal immigration pouring across our southern border? 🚨 Or why violent crime is rising? 🚨 Or why our foreign policy is such a mess?

2/x

This January 6th nonsense on primetime television tonight is a total sham. Produced and choreographed by liberals, paid for with your tax dollars - it’s political theater at its worst.

While there are glimpses of God’s glory all around, on this side of heaven lies a deeply broken world – one wrought with degrees of evil we will never be able to comprehend, let alone explain. 1/

Our nation has been reminded of that today in the wake of the #Uvalde murders. Please join me in lifting these families and our nation up in prayer, asking for peace, comfort, and guidance. 2/

And please join me in ignoring those who mock the value of prayer. We may not know the entirety of God’s plan, but we know He’s listening. 3/

Illegal immigrants cross the border without showing vaccination but essential workers are required to. End the absurdity.

Thank you to my colleagues who joined in calling for @DHSgov @SecMayorkas to end the vaccine mandate for truckers and agricultural workers coming across the U.S. border!

This Admin’s restrictive vaccine mandate for truckers & migrant farmers hinders an already stressed supply chain.

I’m proud to join Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC-5) in this fight to promote policies that uplift our agriculture community & restore medical autonomy to our nation’s workforce.

Despite his lies, his revisionist history and his psychopathic behavior, the entire world recognizes that Vladimir Putin is solely responsible for this. There can be no doubt that Russia is the aggressor in this war, and the enemy of peace worldwide. 1/4

No one knows how this will end, or how far Russia will go. But what is almost certain is massive and catastrophic loss of innocent life in the days and weeks to come. Vladimir Putin will be to blame for every single one of those. 2/4

It is long past time for stronger sanctions on Russia. Putin must be held to account, and the free world must stand in firm opposition to this tyranny. 3/4

Please join me in prayer for the Ukrainian people, who are now fighting for their lives, their families, and their country. 4/4

Today, I led the South Carolina delegation in issuing a joint statement in support of eliminating our state tax on military retirement pay.

“We applaud Governor McMaster for once again including in his executive budget the elimination of the state tax on military retirement pay. South Carolina proudly stands with our veterans, and our state leaders must demonstrate this by fully protecting their retirement pay...

South Carolina would join over thirty other states that have adopted this policy with great results. We urge the General Assembly to approve this proposal to ensure South Carolina continues to be known as a great destination for veterans.”

Thank you to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) Rep. James E. (Jim) Clyburn (D-SC-6) Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC-2) Rep. Jeffrey Duncan (R-SC-3) Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC-7) Rep. William Timmons (R-SC-4) Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC-1) for fighting to ensure South Carolina remains a great home for veterans!

HHS Sec. Becerra gutted the authority of the Office for Civil Rights to enforce conscience protection laws and rescinded waivers for faith-based child welfare agencies.

Proud to work alongside my friend Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and so many others urging him to reverse these actions.

My Press Release:

Sen. Scott’s Press Release:

Faith-based organizations play a vital role for hundreds of thousands of foster children around the country.

I am proud to join 32 Senators and 69 other House members in this effort!

Faith-based adoption and foster care agencies are the best chance these children have to find loving and caring homes. I'm proud to join Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC-5) in fighting for the best care for these children.

Faith-based childcare providers and agencies play an integral role in caring for our nation's families and children. I'm proud to sign on to this letter to stand up for their rights to run according to their convictions.

Faith-based child welfare agencies are under attack from the Biden HHS. This is unacceptable and an assault on religious liberty.

Proud to stand with Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC-5) to defend conscience protections for these critical faith-based providers.

Democrats in Congress don't understand the cost of illegal immigration. If they did, we wouldn't have a border crisis.
I introduced the Stop the SURGE Act, alongside my friend in the Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), to relieve CBP at our Southern border from the immense burden of the crisis.

This legislation would establish new ports of entry across the U.S., such as in:
- Martha's Vineyard, Mass.
- Nantucket, Mass.
- Newport, R.I.
- Greenwich, Conn.
...where illegal immigrants will be transported to from the border for processing.

I’m confident these fine cities and others will feel sympathy and compassion for what’s happening in South Texas. And I’m optimistic they will happily rise to the challenge and serve our nation well as new ports of entry for the U.S. Border Patrol.

My statement on Juneteenth vote:

First of all, our Independence Day is July 4th. Period. Independence Day celebrates the anniversary of our declared independence from Great Britain, and it’s been that way for 245 years.

If you want to call Juneteenth, for example, Freedom Day or Emancipation Day then fine – that’s certainly worth considering. But calling it Independence Day is WHOLLY INAPPROPIATE.

Second, we can’t just add new federal holidays without considering the ramifications!

When Obama issued an executive order in 2014 giving federal employees an extra day off, that cost the government roughly $660 MILLION dollars, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

While Colonial Pipeline expects to have service restored soon, the bigger issue here is from a national security standpoint. (thread)

This was a catastrophic cyber-attack by what appears to be Russian hackers, who took advantage of either a weakness or vulnerability in Colonial Pipeline’s computer systems to install ransomware. (2/3)

This serves as yet another reminder to business & gov leaders that cybersecurity MUST be a high priority within their organizations. While not all attacks can be prevented, many investigations ultimately reveal – after the fact – that the attack could have been prevented. (3/3)
