40 years ago, Vincent Chin was murdered in a racially motivated hate crime. He would have been 67 today.

On this National AAPI #DayAgainstBullying and Hate, we come together to honor his memory, heal as a community, & recommit ourselves to #StopAsianHate.

During #AAPIHeritageMonth, while we uplift, support, and celebrate the many contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in NYC, let us not forget to fight against the prejudice that these communities are facing #StopAsianHate

May is #AAPIHeritageMonth, when we celebrate the diverse cultures and contributions of Asians, Native Hawai’ians, and Pacific Islanders in our country.

The month of May was orginally chosen to commemorate:

🇯🇵 The arrival of the Japanese immigrants (1943)

🇨🇳 The contributions of Chinese laborers who worked on President Ulyses S. Grant’s historic transcontinental railroad (1869)

With the recent rise of anti-Asian hate crimes due to conspiracies related to #COVID19, the #StopAsianHate campaign was born.

It’s now more important than ever to honor and stand in solidarity with our #AAPI brothers and sisters.

This is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. As anti-Asian hate crimes and incidents have increased during the pandemic, it is important to recognize the impactful history of #AAPI communities in our country.

May is #AAPIHeritageMonth -- an occasion to honor the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to our country. I'm honored to represent a diverse and growing #AAPI community, and I will always advocate for their rights and freedoms.

Last spring, after the horrific spa shootings in Georgia, I gathered with AAPI Hoosiers at a rally to #StopAsianHate, and I remain strongly committed to this important goal.
