During, while we uplift, support, and celebrate the many contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in NYC, let us not forget to fight against the prejudice that these communities are facing
May is, when we celebrate the diverse cultures and contributions of Asians, Native Hawai’ians, and Pacific Islanders in our country.
The month of May was orginally chosen to commemorate:
🇯🇵 The arrival of the Japanese immigrants (1943)
🇨🇳 The contributions of Chinese laborers who worked on President Ulyses S. Grant’s historic transcontinental railroad (1869)
With the recent rise of anti-Asian hate crimes due to conspiracies related to, the campaign was born.
It’s now more important than ever to honor and stand in solidarity with ourbrothers and sisters.
This is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. As anti-Asian hate crimes and incidents have increased during the pandemic, it is important to recognize the impactful history ofcommunities in our country.

All bigotry is evil. To silence hate we must spotlight the great, and so to allcommunities and families, I again thank you for progressing our nation forward to a diversified and just society.
