(1/3) Here we are again facing another attack on Black voters in New York with the new draft redistricting map. As the only Black woman on the New York Delegation, I take this attempt to suppress the vote, personally.

(2/3) The draft redistricting map reflects a total disregard of the spirit of the law and disenfranchisement of those who fought to make voting a reality for Black Americans of Central and South, Brooklyn.

(3/3) Let's be frank, this draft map targets Black voters and will negatively impact constituents. New Yorkers deserve better. If we had Section 5 preclearance we wouldn't be in this situation.

I sounded the alarm on the @GeorgiaDDS voter registration drop so Georgia voters can be crystal clear if they are registered or not.

I'm glad the system issue will now be fixed. Effective automatic voter registration is essential to #VotingRights!

I joined my colleagues Rep. Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (D-GA-2) Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux (D-GA-7) in calling for Gov. Kemp and @TheJusticeDept to immediately investigate the dramatic drop in GA's #AutomaticVoterRegistration.

Our #VotingRights depend on clear access to register in the first place!

The fight for #VotingRights isn’t over, y’all. While spending time across the district, I introduced legislation that would ease the burden many workers face finding time to vote. Read more in this week’s #NikemasNotes!

By the way, I haven't forgotten about the historic confirmation of incoming Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. We must ensure future processes are fair and consistent. Read my letter on nomination reform here ➡️

New Mexico is leading to protect our democracy. Today, I was honored to return to the Roundhouse with Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez (D-NM-3) for a Field Hearing with Chair Rep. G. K. Butterfield (D-NC-1) on how NM models voter access—and how we must act on the federal level to pass key #VotingRights legislation!
